There needs to be emphasis on the realization of the commitment that has been made in the form of concrete action to control climate change.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Delegates of the 8th G20 Parliamentary Speakers (P20) Summit planted trees in the compound of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Building here on Friday to demonstrate their commitment to controlling climate change.
Controlling climate change was one of the main issues discussed at the meeting.
"There needs to be emphasis on the realization of the commitment that has been made in the form of concrete action to control climate change,” DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said during the tree-planting activity.

The tree-planting activity also showcased P20's commitment to build a better world for all human beings, she added.
"The joint tree planting showcases our commitment to cooperate in building a better world, one world for all," she remarked.
During the tree planting activity, Maharani planted a Matoa tree, which is typical to Papua.

President of the International Parliamentary Union (IPU), Duarte Pacheco, and guests other than speakers of G20 parliaments also joined the activity.
In addition to climate change, the P20 Summit also discussed efforts to create a global recovery framework, achieve sustainable development, and overcome various global challenges, Maharani said.
"(The efforts) include the use of technology and innovation as well as the promotion of MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) to play a significant role in the global supply chain for economic recovery," she added.
