Head of the South Sulawesi Industry Office, Ahmadi Akil, in a statement issued here on Tuesday, said that the provincial government was committed to spending 41 percent of the 2022 South Sulawesi Regional Budget (APBD), or Rp3.89 trillion, on local products.

The value is equivalent to 95.35 percent of the South Sulawesi provincial government’s total expenditure on goods and services.
"We are sure that this will be able to have a significant effect on the empowerment and strengthening of the domestic industry structure and will optimize the use of local products in the government's goods and services procurement," Akil said.
The provincial government is accelerating efforts to encourage goods and services procurement through the e-katalog platform Baju Bodo and marketplaces, he noted. However, the realization until September has been low at around 30 percent of the target.
"A more intensive joint collaboration with related stakeholders is still needed," he said.

Therefore, the South Sulawesi provincial government is continuously disseminating information on the “Increasing the Use of Local Products” (P3DN) program to stakeholders in regions.
The aim is to support Regional Government Organizations (OPDs) in compiling a list of domestic product procurement needs, including providing technical training and enabling business matching to bring together supply and demand for domestic products.
Earlier, the Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Ministry had urged ministries, institutions, and regional governments to increase local product purchases through the government’s e-katalog platform as it could support MSMEs and assist in post-pandemic recovery.
Expert staff for productivity and competitiveness at the ministry, Eddy Satriya, said that in terms of quality, locally made products, especially those produced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs), can compete with foreign products. Moreover, most of their products have a domestic component level of up to 75 percent.
