It (JMFW 2023) is a form of the government's appreciation, commitment, and seriousness to ensure that Indonesia will be able to serve as a hub for Muslim fashionJakarta (ANTARA) - The “Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2023” is a real manifestation of the Indonesian government's commitment to developing the Muslim fashion industry in the country, Vice Trade Minister Jerry Sambuaga has said.
"It (JMFW 2023) is a form of the government's appreciation, commitment, and seriousness to ensure that Indonesia will be able to serve as a hub for Muslim fashion. This Muslim fashion can be developed in Jakarta to become a world icon," he said while attending the JMFW "Fashion Parade 3" at ICE BSD, South Tangerang, on Thursday.
Muslim fashion has made a satisfactory contribution to the country's exports, he highlighted.
The Muslim fashion industry has contributed US$2.8 billion to the country's exports since early this year.
"Muslim fashion has also contributed to our trade balance, which reached US$38.9 billion in September 2022. Hence, JMFW 2023 is present to prove the government's commitment and seriousness to promote Muslim fashion," Samuaga said.
He called on the public and the Muslim fashion industry to collaborate and synergize to create a better image for Indonesia in the eyes of the global community through Muslim fashion.
He further expressed the hope that the JMFW will become one of the events that will be held annually, and thereby, allow Indonesian Muslim fashion to have an impact on the world.
While opening JMFW 2023, which ends on October 22, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin had expressed the hope that Indonesia will lay world-class parameters for Muslim fashion.
