Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry is encouraging collaboration between vocational education institutions and business and industrial players to boost the use of products made by vocational students.

Director general of vocational education at the ministry, Kiki Yuliati, made the statement during the “Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2023” in Tangerang District, Banten Province, on Saturday.

The collaboration can be carried out not only through the ministry, but also directly between industry players and vocational education institutions.

Hence, the director general said she expects that in the future, vocational education institutions can provide educational services that can be customized and adapted according to the competencies required by the students.

This would allow vocational education services to be carried out faster and more effectively to provide comprehensive learning.

The Directorate General of Vocational Education at the ministry is also running a matching fund program as one of the efforts to advance vocational education.

"Throughout 2022, it (the program) has attracted various business and industrial actors to cooperate with vocational education (institutions) with a (economic) value of more than Rp500 billion," acting director of partnership and synergy of business and industry sector at the directorate general, Saryadi, informed.

The Directorate General of Vocational Education showcased 60 fashion products made by students from six vocational schools and four vocational colleges at JMFW 2023.

Their participation in JMFW 2023 is an opportunity for vocational educational units to prove that the clothing products designed by their students are as good as the ones designed by well-known Indonesian designers competing at the event.

The involvement of vocational education institutions in JMFW 2023 is a strategic attempt to strengthen the fashion industry, which is growing rapidly.

The institutions have a great opportunity to meet the needs of human resources in the fashion industry given the various competency building and study programs at vocational schools and colleges as well as courses and training institutions.
