Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology appealed to teachers to channel their attention on the learning process that utilizes technology to face education-related challenges.

"The key is we must focus on learning that utilizes up-to-date technology and using our human resources effectively and efficiently," Acting Director of High School (SMA) at the ministry, Winner Jihad Akbar, stated during the SMA Talk: is Independent Teaching Platform important for teachers? webinar followed online on Monday.

According to Akbar, amid continued technological developments, students tend to prefer self-learning by using various resources. Thus, they are increasingly dependent on information and communication technology (ICT).

To this end, he assessed that teachers should understand that they are not the only source of information in the class, as students can now access various sources of information easily through their phones.

Teachers must be able to guide their students in learning by utilizing various sources with the help of technology, he stated.

Akbar remarked that the ministry had created a digital platform named the Independent Teaching Platform to facilitate teachers in teaching amid the digital transformation era as well as to support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum.

"This platform can help teachers get references, inspiration, and understanding, so they are expected to be able to develop themselves in maximizing the implementation of the Independent Curriculum," he remarked.

He remarked that the platform is adjusted with the Independent Curriculum learning concept. Particularly for high schools, he noted that the ministry is currently preparing the materials and adjusting them with the state university selection policy.

"There are various features provided (in the platform), which include inspirational videos, student assessments, teaching tools, self-training, proof of work, and a learning community that we hope can help teachers in transforming learning in their schools," he remarked.
