"Various efforts to develop new and renewable energy (NRE) and various energy transitions from fossil energy to new renewable energy have been implemented through East Java's RUED regional regulation, including its derived regulations," Parawansa noted while receiving the awards in Jakarta on October 21, 2022.
According to her, the awards reflect East Java province's commitment to the development of green energy and the use of new and renewable energy, which aligns with the G20 Net Zero Emission 2060 program.
One of the energy transition programs carried out by the East Java provincial government has been encouraging the use of environment-friendly or electric-powered vehicles.
In 2022, the number of battery electric vehicles in East Java reached 1,877 units, an increase from 1,690 units in 2021 and 903 units in 2020.
Meanwhile, at least 197,724 houses have been connected to the gas network infrastructure in the province, which is the highest number nationally.
"We continue to campaign for the use of environment-friendly energy and various energy transitions. In some areas, we have directly campaigned for (the use of) electric motors," Parawansa said.
She assured that the East Java provincial government is committed to following up on the RUED through derived policies and regulations.
At the 2022 DEN Award, the East Java provincial government was adjudged the “Best Region” in the implementation of policies and regulations derived from RUED.
The province also ranked first in the category of "Regions that Implement the Energy Transition.”
