"The number was recorded as of October 23, 2022, based on reports submitted to the Ministry of Health," Head of the Communication and Public Service Bureau of the ministry Siti Nadia Tarmizi informed in Jakarta.
According to her, the highest number of recovered patients has been reported from East Java Province, with nine out of the total 27 patients in the province making a recovery. Meanwhile, 5 of the patients are still undergoing treatment and 13 others have succumbed to AKI, she added.
Jakarta is in second place with six out of 55 patients making a recovery. Meanwhile, 22 patients are still being treated and 27 have died.
Bali and Banten have reported 4 recoveries each, and South Sulawesi and West Sumatra three recoveries each.
Meanwhile, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and West Java have recorded one recovery each.
According to Tarmizi, a total of 66 patients are currently being treated with various symptoms, including fever, loss of appetite, malaise, nausea, vomiting, acute respiratory infection (ARI), diarrhea, abdominal pain, dehydration, and bleeding.
As many as 29 percent of the patients have anuria or reduced urine volume, she added.
Based on age, the patients are dominated by 1- to 5-year-olds (161), followed by 6- to 10-year-olds (35), under one-year-olds (25), and 11- to 18-year-olds (24).
The ministry further reported that the number of patients who have died of acute kidney injury has reached 141, with the most fatalities recorded in Jakarta at 27, followed by Aceh (21), West Java (18), East Java (13), and West Sumatra and Bali (10 deaths each).
Meanwhile, eight deaths have been reported from West Sumatra, seven from Banten, and 3 each from South Sulawesi, Central Java, and South Kalimantan.
Further, Yogyakarta, Jambi, Riau Islands, West Nusa Tenggara, Southeast Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara have reported two deaths each, while North Sumatra, Papua, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, North Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan have witnessed one death each.
"As many as 245 cases of acute kidney disorders currently come from 26 provinces," Tarmizi added.
