When the pandemic recedes, residents are euphoric to travel again, yet, the limited supply causes stagnation, which impacts services for the peopleJakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has asked members of the Indonesia National Air Carriers Association (INACA) to synergize to accelerate the national aviation industry’s recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I hope the appointed INACA chairperson and committee members would synergize in seeking the best solution to accelerate the aviation industry recovery," he said at the INACA general meeting and election of association committee members for the 2022–2025 term, which he joined virtually on Thursday.
During the general meeting, the minister expressed the hope that the appointed committee members would ensure that aviation companies maintain their positive on-time performance (OTP) records.
"Our data in September 2022 showed that INACA members have 76.79 percent OTP records, increased from 75.31 percent OTP recorded in 2021," Sumadi noted.

He then outlined some measures for maintaining positive OTP, including minimizing factors contributing to a delay in the personnel, facility, and operational aspects, which would require coordination with the relevant authorities.
The minister also took note of the issue of limited airline fleets amid the pandemic, which has caused a supply-demand mismatch between passengers and air carrier companies.
"When the pandemic recedes, residents are euphoric to travel again, yet, the limited supply causes stagnation, which impacts services for the people," he said.

He added that INACA must be mindful to contribute to improving connectivity from and to remote and border regions.
"We must also see and hear the needs of our brothers in Aceh, Kalimantan, Papua, and the eastern Indonesian region," he said.
The minister also instructed INACA members to continue to optimize commercial flight services while adhering to flight operation restrictions imposed at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport from November 14–18, 2022, for the G20 Summit, as per the ministry's circular.
The G20 Summit is scheduled to take place in Bali on November 15–16.
"The regulation is to balance VVIP and G20 delegates' flights with regular commercial flights," Sumadi said.
