Jakarta (ANTARA) - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded the farmer's exchange rate (NTP) in October 2022 at 107.27, an increase of 0.42 percent as compared to the previous month's figure of 106.82.

"The increase in NTP occurred because the price received by farmers rose 0.29 percent as compared to the price paid by them, which decreased by 0.13 percent," Deputy for Distribution and Service Statistics of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Setianto stated here, Tuesday.

Setianto explained that the price index received by farmers increased by 0.29 percent, with the main contributors being palm oil, grain, coffee, and gambier commodities.

Moreover, the price index paid by farmers decreased by 0.13 percent, with the main contributors being red chili, broiler eggs, and cayenne pepper.

The highest increase in NTP occurred in the smallholder plantation sub-sector, which rose 1.70 percent.

"The increase occurred because the price index received by farmers increased by 1.53 percent and the price index paid by farmers for the plantation sub-sector decreased by 0.16 percent," Setianto remarked.

Setianto said the main commodities that affected the increase in the price index received by farmers in the plantation sub-sector were palm oil, coffee, gambier, cloves, cocoa, areca nut, and sugarcane.

Furthermore, the horticulture sub-sector experienced a decline of 4.14 percent where it occurred, as the prices received by farmers fell 4.23 percent, much higher than the price index paid by horticultural farmers of 0.10 percent.

"If we look at the main commodities, there are red chilies, cayenne peppers, shallots, cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, mangoes, eggplants," Setianto noted.
