"We have received seven endangered animals from BSKDA DKI Jakarta," chief of the Mount Cermai National Park, Maman Surahman, said in Kuningan, West Java, on Friday.
The seven endangered animals include a Javanese porcupine (Hysterix javanica), a Javanese slow loris (Nycticebus javanicus), two pandan weasels (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus), and three forest cats (Felis bengalensis).
The endangered animals will be later released to their habitat in Majalengka, which is located 1,450 meters above sea level.
The habitat is a natural forest comprising various types of trees that are typical to mountain forests, he observed.
He said that his ministry received the endangered animals from BSKDA after their rehabilitation at the Tegal Alur Animal Rescue Center (PPS).
The endangered animals were handed to BKSDA by their owners, he added.
Based on a medical check by a veterinarian, the animals are in good health
Surahman lauded the efforts made by various parties to rescue the endangered animals and hoped the presence of the seven endangered animals will keep the ecosystem balance for the animals inhabiting the national park.
