We hope that people will use domestic pharmaceutical products
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Health has adopted the butterfly transformation philosophy to push recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and mark the 58th National Health Day (HKN) this year.

"HKN's commemoration this year aims to increase public awareness and knowledge about health. The theme is ‘Rise up my Indonesia, Healthy my Country,’" the ministry's secretary general, Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha, informed at the 58th HKN 2022 press conference here on Tuesday.

According to him, the theme carries the message of enthusiastically getting back on the feet and recovering from the pandemic.

"If we can rise up, then the economy will grow. This is indicated by increasing vaccination coverage, sloping COVID-19 cases, and improved economic growth. We have to get up and recover," Nugraha emphasized.

This year's HKN momentum also reflects all forms of government intervention in national health services to prepare for the challenges of future health problems, he said.

"Now is the right moment to make changes. With COVID-19, we realize that there are many things that need to be changed for the better," he added.

The butterfly philosophy refers to the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly that has a more beautiful shape, a wider range, and moves faster because of its wings, he explained.

To mark the 58th HKN, the Ministry of Health is determined to adopt the butterfly philosophy to improve the quality of health services to the community through the six pillars of health service transformation.

The first transformation pillar is improving primary or basic services—from curative to preventive services—and improving referral hospital services for four catastrophic diseases (stroke, kidney, cancer, and heart).

The next pillars comprise increasing health resilience by encouraging the use of domestic pharmaceutical products, better financing for health insurance, improving the quality of health human resources, ensuring equal distribution of services, and using health technology.

The series of HKN activities began this year with the commemoration of the services of former health ministers, secretary generals, and director generals in Indonesia at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery and San Diego Hills Cemetery on November 2.

The activities also included a Health Development Exhibition held at ICE BSD, Tangerang, from November 3–5 to showcase the domestic health industry along with the products and programs of the Ministry of Health.

"We hope that people will use domestic pharmaceutical products," Nugraha said.

The Ministry of Health also presented awards to health workers for their dedication, work performance, innovation, and active role in the success of health development.

The highlight of the event will be held on November 12 during the HKN ceremony at the Ministry of Health's office in Jakarta.

HKN is commemorated on November 12 every year and marks the historic agenda of the declaration of Malaria Eradication by President Soekarno in 1962.

Two years later, the government continued to eradicate malaria with insecticides.

Nugraha said that it is important to remember the two agendas since malaria, at that time, was considered a deadly disease.
