It needs to be emphasized that the more tests, the better because the real number of cases in society will be knownJakarta (ANTARA) - The number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia increased by 7,893 on Tuesday, thereby taking the total tally to 6,573,805 cases, according to the COVID-19 Handling Task Force.
The task force data showed that Jakarta contributed the most number of new cases on Tuesday, at 2,932 cases, followed by West Java, with 1,472 cases; East Java, 924 cases; Banten, 816 cases; and Central Java, 402 cases.
On Tuesday, 4,038 patients recovered from the infection, taking the total count to 6,360,832 recoveries.

Provinces that recorded the most number of recoveries are Jakarta, reaching 1,283; East Java, at 718; West Java, 584; Central Java, 329; and Banten, 170.
The task force data also showed that 41 patients had succumbed to the virus on Tuesday. Hence, the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in Indonesia had touched 159,199.
The provinces that recorded the highest number of COVID-19 fatalities on Tuesday are East Java, and Central Java, with 11 deaths each, followed by five deaths in Riau and four deaths in Jakarta.
The COVID-19 Handling Task Force reminded that Indonesia still records a rise in COVID-19 cases. Thus, the community is still urged to strengthen health protocols.

Government spokesperson for COVID-19 Handling Wiku Adisasmito stated that the community's awareness to implement health protocols is the main key to keeping the number of COVID-19 cases to remain low.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Health and Population Development Quality Improvement at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Agus Suprapto, emphasized the importance of the capacity of COVID-19 testing, tracing, and treatment to anticipate the spread of the XBB subvariant of Omicron.
"Increase testing, especially for those who are close contacts and those who have comorbidities," he stated.
Suprapto explained that increasing the capacity of testing, tracing, and treatment is the main key to curbing the spread of COVID-19, including the XBB subvariant.
"It needs to be emphasized that the more tests, the better because the real number of cases in society will be known," he remarked.
