Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA) - Indonesia is committed to developing the energy transition mechanism (ETM), as stated in the 12th paragraph of the Bali Leaders' Declaration, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has said.

"Paragraph 12 on the achievement of SDG (sustainable development goal) number seven is how to access energy and eliminate poverty due to lack of access to energy," she noted at the G20 Summit press conference at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC), here on Wednesday.

The 12th paragraph of the Bali G20 Leaders' Declaration emphasizes the achievement of SDG No. 7, namely ensuring access to clean and affordable energy.

It reaffirms the G20's commitment to achieving the targets of SDG-7 and seeks to close gaps in energy access and eradicate poverty due to limited access to energy.

The G20 has also committed to finding solutions to achieve energy market stability, transparency, and affordability by accelerating the transition to strengthen energy supply chains and security and diversifying energy mix systems.

The G20 has also accelerated the utilization of low-emission power plants while speeding up the construction of renewable energy power plants.

The effort has been undertaken as the G20 is carrying out steps to make energy more efficient, including by bolstering the gradual cessation of coal-fired power plants.

Indrawati said this commitment is stipulated in the Bali Leaders' Declaration so that it can be implemented by each country even though it has been difficult to agree on.

According to her, the commitment has been difficult to agree on because there are several G20 countries that are the largest producers of fossil energy sources, such as Saudi Arabia and Indonesia itself.

"Within our Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), the energy sector is the largest CO2 producer and the most expensive to balance," she said.

Therefore, the 12th paragraph of the G20 Leaders' Declaration is expected to close the gaps between groups that have difficulty accessing energy, especially poor countries, she added.
