Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 7th ASEAN Children’s Forum (ACF) 2022 Indonesia will promote children's basic rights, including the rights to participate and develop a peaceful society, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry's Secretary Pribudiarta Nur Sitepu stated.

"It will also ensure children's development at the level of individual, institution, society, national, and regional for ASEAN children's best interests," he noted through a statement on Wednesday.

The 7th ASEAN Children's Forum is the first face-to-face ASEAN Children's Forum after the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, Indonesia has become the host for the 7th ACF themed "Building a Digital Resiliency for ASEAN Children" on account of the fact that children have developed digital resiliency throughout the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sitepu outlined the three sub-themes of digital literacy, digital participation and resiliency, and digital security within this event.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a challenging time since it had never occurred before.

During this time, the people must adjust their lifestyle to the presence of an online system as a result of physical distancing to minimize a spike in cases.

The 7th ACF's theme is deemed to be highly relevant to further learn how children are affected by digital lifestyle changes during the pandemic, including how they can revive and build digital resilience, he explained.

The 7th ASEAN Children's Forum officially started on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, with the opening remark from Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga.

The ministry welcomed the arrival of Children's Forum delegations from ASEAN countries that had arrived in Jakarta.

The 7th ASEAN Children's Forum is held in a hybrid format on November 15-20, 2022 in Jakarta and Manado with in-class session, education visit, field trip activities, as well as Indonesian World Children’s Day commemoration.
