We have obtained data of families that are at risk of stunting to be helped
Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - The Bangka Belitung Islands' representative office of the National Family Planning and Population Agency (BKKBN) deployed 1,050 officers to assist families at risk of stunting to optimize stunting reduction in the province.

"We have obtained data of families that are at risk of stunting to be helped," Head of the Bangka Belitung Islands BKKBN Fazar Supriadi noted here on Thursday.

According to Supriadi, in handling and reducing cases of stunting, the Bangka Belitung Islands BKKBN is optimizing five action plans: providing data on families at risk of stunting, assisting families at risk of stunting, assisting prospective brides, supervising stunted children, and auditing stunting cases.

"These assistance officers routinely visit families that are at risk of stunting to educate and monitor specifically the conditions of children, who are at risk of stunting," he remarked.

He explained that the activity is a follow-up to Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 on the Acceleration of Stunting Management and Regulation of the Head of the BKKBN Number 12 of 2021 on the National Action Plan for the Acceleration of Stunting Handling (RAN Pasti).

"To prevent stunting, we appeal to prospective brides to register or report to the Religious Affairs Office (KUA) to conduct health screening, so that their future babies have no risk of stunting," he stated.

He remarked that the Bangka Belitung Islands BKKBN is targeting to reduce the stunting rate to 15.76 percent in 2022 and 13.05 percent in 2023.

Earlier, Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo urged all the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Teams (TPPS) to conduct audits of stunting cases at the family level.

"If the result of the stunting audit found a frequent diarrhea case, then it must be investigated whether only one family experienced it or other families in the neighborhood experienced it as well. The environment may cause diarrhea, so we recommend fixing the latrine," he stated.

Wardoyo remarked that audits of stunting cases conducted at the family level could help the government to investigate other factors that cause stunting in children more deeply.
