"The role of teachers is very strategic in preparing the productive force ahead of the demographic bonus and welcoming Golden Indonesia 2045," acting deputy for the improvement of education quality and religious moderation at the ministry, Aris Darmansyah Edisaputra, said on Thursday.
The government is currently intensifying programs aimed at building great-quality human resources by opening access to education for all people, starting from an early age, he informed.
“(The programs include) Among others, the intensification of the ‘One Village One Early Childhood Education (PAUD)’ program and the Smart Indonesia Card for elementary, junior high, high school/vocational high schools, and to the higher education level," he said.
The programs are strategic for building the next competitive generation, he added.
"The government also keeps strengthening vocational education in order to realize great and competitive human resources. To make these various programs a success, the role of teachers as educators and students' role models is crucial," he said.
Furthermore, the government is striving to enhance vocational education by revitalizing vocational education and vocational training, as stipulated in Presidential Regulation No. 68 of 2022.
Edisaputra said that National Teacher's Day, which is celebrated every November 25, is expected to be a momentum to remind all parties about the key role of teachers.
"The theme of National Teacher's Day 2022 is 'Simultaneously Innovating, Realizing Freedom in Learning'; it is hoped that the National Teacher's Day commemoration will spotlight (the important) role and services of teachers in the country's education sector," he added.
