Cianjur,West Java (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) stated that as many as 3,175 medical personnel were spread across 194 evacuation locations to treat affected residents in Cianjur, West Java.

"Spread across 194 evacuation locations in eight districts," Acting Head of BNPB's Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, noted in a statement in Cianjur, West Java, Monday.

Muhari said the eight sub-districts in Cianjur District were Pacet, Cugenang, Gekbrong, Warungkondang, Mande, Cilaku, Cibeber, and Cianjur Kota.

He said the health workers deployed comprised general practitioners, nurses, nutritionists, midwives, pharmacists, surveillance personnel, environmental health staff, therapists, psychologists, and various specialist doctors to support the health services of affected residents.

Health service activities under the auspices of the Ministry of Health have observed and recorded data to prevent disease or epidemics as well as submitted health logistics to related agencies.

In addition, the Cianjur District Health Office has conducted rapid health assessment (RHA), mobilized to provide health services at several refugee points and recorded the availability of drugs, vulnerable groups, and disease trends at the evacuation points.

He said that some 16 ambulances were provided to escort and to accompany victims in need of surgery or treatment at health facilities.

Based on data compiled by Cianjur District’s Earthquake Handling Health Cluster as of Sunday (November 27), five more cases of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), gastritis, hypertension, diarrhea, and diabetes were recorded at health posts and community health centers (Puskesmas).

A total of 155 beds were also prepared for Cianjur District to receive patients after surgery that were spread across Cimacan Hospital, with 50 beds; 20 beds each in Pagelaran South Cianjur Hospital and Dr. Hafiz Hospital; 11 beds in Bhayangkara Hospital; 50 beds in BBKP Ciloto Cimacan; and five beds at the GKI Shelter.

Health workers, who are members of the sanitarian team, also collect and check the quality of water at 20 evacuation points.

In addition, the monitoring of larvae and fogging was conducted in Cijedil Village, Cugenang Sub-District.

Meanwhile, in order to support nutritional services at evacuation sites, kitchens for Infant and Child Feeding (IYCF) were opened in the districts of Cugenang and Warungkondang.

Intensive health services are also provided to groups of pregnant women and people with mental disorders (ODGJ).

Appeals and education regarding health promotion for a Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) are also continuously carried out by health volunteers at every evacuation point.
