Jakarta (ANTARA) - Strong collaboration among the government, private sector, and community is the key to achieving sustainable energy resilience and economic self-reliance, Chief of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) Dwi Soetjipto stated.

Stakeholders have had the same understanding and agreed on the main fundamental of the present upstream oil and gas businesses, he noted in a written statement released in Jakarta on Friday.

All parties have agreed that the upstream oil and gas industry plays an essential role during the energy transition to net zero emissions (NZE), he remarked.

Based on that, all stakeholders have the same views that Indonesia should improve its investment climate amid tough competition, he emphasized.

The SKK Migas chief said all relevant ministries and non-ministerial institutions will take necessary steps to boost the investment climate.

"The government has taken all necessary steps to encourage the investment climate. Several positive indications of progress include in providing incentives that have been made. (In addition), the government is open to hold discussions with investors and receive inputs," he remarked.

"Collaboration among stakeholders is a must to increase investment in the upstream oil and gas industry. Therefore, efforts to build more vital collaboration must be continued," he stressed.

Fundamental collaboration and discussion in the upstream oil and gas sector is also apparent from the 3rd International Convention on Indonesian Upstream Oil and Gas 2022 (IOG 2022) held on November 23-25, 2022, he remarked.

He said several important messages may serve as guidance for businessmen to maintain commitment to boost oil and gas production. One of the messages concerns the importance of applying carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) and climate change adopted operations (CCAO).

"The government is currently focusing on preparing fiscal incentives to boost oil and gas production based on CCAO," he stated.

In addition, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has readied a strategy to turn gas into alternative energy during the energy transition process.
