Lumajang Deputy District Head Indah Amperawati checked the evacuees in Mount Sawur, Lumajang, East Java, on Sunday.
She said the residents living in red zones such as Supiturang Village and Kajar Kuning Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village, have moved to safer places such as schools and mosques.
She also said the Lumajang District Government has prepared logistic assistance for people who self-evacuated due to Mt. Semeru's volcanic activity.
"The logistics are ready. We prepare food for the displaced residents," Amperawati said.
She also asked the evacuees to wait for instructions and information from the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) through the Mt. Semeru monitoring post in Mt. Sawur.
"It is best to wait for information from the monitoring post. If it states that there is no more hot cloud eruption, (residents) can go back to their respective homes," she said.
However, if it is not safe yet, residents whose houses are in the red zone areas are expected to stay at the evacuation site.
Moreover, she explained that residents of Kajar Kuning Hamlet, Supit Urang, and some of Curah Kobokan are no longer allowed to carry out any activity there, including mining activities in some Semeru river catchment areas.
"There should be no mining activities along the Bondeli (river) stream, so in case something happens, the sand mining truck does not disrupt the evacuation process," Amperawati said.
Meanwhile, the Lumajang Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) informed that residents at Supiturang and Oro-oro Ombo Villages, Pronojiwo Sub-district, have moved to Supiturang 04 Elementary School, Pronojiwo 2 Junior High School, Oro-oro Ombo Village Center, and Supiturang Mosque.
Residents in Kajar Kuning Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro Sub-district, evacuated to the Semeru monitoring post in Mt. Sawur.
