The peak for Christmas homecoming is Friday, December 23 and for New Year's homecoming is on Friday, December 31Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) has forecast that the peak of the 2022 Christmas homecoming will occur on December 23, 2022, while the peak of the 2023 New Year homecoming will fall on December 30, 2022.
"The peak for Christmas homecoming is Friday, December 23 and for New Year's homecoming is on Friday, December 31," President Director of state-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga Subakti Syukur said here, Monday.
Syukur noted that the peak of the Christmas return journey will fall on December 25, while the peak of the New Year's return journey in on January 1, 2023.

Jasa Marga estimates that the traffic volume outside Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabotabek) for the Christmas-New Year homecoming flow through the four main toll gates will reach 2.73 million vehicles, up 2.6 percent as compared to the 2021-2022 Christmas-New Year homecoming traffic of 2.6 million vehicles.
The estimated traffic distribution for homecoming during Christmas and New Year is around 47 percent of vehicles heading east or on the Trans-Java Toll Road, then around 30.6 percent going west or Merak, and 22.4 percent going south or to Ciawi, West Java.
Moreover, Jasa Marga estimates the traffic volume entering Greater Jakarta for the Christmas-New Year return flows through the four main toll gates to reach 2.71 million vehicles, or an increase of 1.2 percent as compared to the Christmas-New Year return flows during the 2021-2022 period of 2.6 million vehicles.

Syukur noted that the estimated distribution of backflow traffic during Christmas-New Year is around 47.4 percent of vehicles from the east or the Trans Java Toll Road, around 30.1 percent from the west or Merak, and 22.5 percent from the south or Ciawi.
In order to support traffic during the Christmas-New Year holidays, Jasa Marga has prepared a traffic engineering plan to handle congestion on toll roads, including overcoming density in the most populated locations of particular concern: Km 48 up to Km 66 and Km 70 to Km 72 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road and Km 185 to Km 188 of the Cikampek-Palimanan Toll Road.
Syukur said Jasa Marga will also conduct functional operations by adding one two-way lane to the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road from Km 50 to Km 66.
