Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics aims to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in understanding the services offered by financial technology companies (fintech).

The ministry's head of the research and development agency for human resources, Hary Budiarto, stated at the event "10x1000 Indonesia Chapter-2022: Networking Start Here!", Wednesday, that fintech could play an important role in digitizing MSMEs, one of the government's priority programs.

He noted that fintech is considered to be able to contribute to MSME transactions, for instance, using a digital wallet for payments. The services offered by fintech also included access to capital through companies engaged in peer-to-peer lending.

"The onboarding MSMEs target aims to optimize economic growth to become a huge economic potential in Indonesia and make fintech as an important contributor in digitizing MSMEs," Budiarto noted.

He remarked that MSMEs owners' understanding of fintech is also considered to align with the 2021-2024 Indonesia Digital Roadmap for digital transformation.

In the digital infrastructure sector, the development of digital infrastructure in all regions aims to help more people gain access to telecommunication networks and the internet. With internet access, people can make the most of various potentials, including fintech services, he added.

In the human resources sector, the ministry considers the importance of having digital talents in order to reap the benefits of digital economy. One of the activities conducted by the ministry is providing Digital Talent Scholarship training.

The program provides training for entrepreneurs, namely the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA). In DEA's curriculum, the ministry includes material on fintech in collaboration with the private sector, namely 10x1000 Tech for Inclusion.

The ministry also sees that growth in the digital economy will have an impact on the people's welfare.

Budiarto stated that the 10x1000 program was held to provide digital literacy to entrepreneurs, including MSMEs. The program targets one thousand participants to receive digital literacy training every year for the next decade.
