After a cross-sectoral coordination meeting for security preparations for Christmas and New Year at the National Police Headquarters on Friday, he noted that the police and related agencies, such as the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) have prepared a formula.
"We have prepared a special formula during this holiday, such as odd-even plate licenses, one-way, and contra-flow lane," he informed.
He said that police will socialize the regulation before carrying out traffic engineering in order to prevent confusion and congestion.
"We will socialize the regulation to accommodate people and the traffic during the holiday," he added.
Prabowo said the police already have standards based on data and measuring instruments for traffic flow conditions to enforce traffic engineering policies.
"We already have measurements, when the density exceeds five thousand, then we will carry out contra-flow. If it reaches six thousand vehicles, we will implement a one-way policy. More information will be discussed in a coordination meeting," he informed.
In addition, secretary general of the Ministry of Transportation, Novie R. Raharjo, said that his party, together with the National Police Traffic Corps, will implement traffic engineering scenarios to handle traffic congestion.
"We will implement contra-flow at a certain density. It will be flexible, in accordance with the standard operating procedure," Raharjo added.
Meanwhile, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the convenience of transportation is measured by three things, namely infrastructure, regulation, and behavior.
In terms of infrastructure, the nine-kilometer Jakarta-South Cikampek Two toll road is now ready to operate, he informed.
Likewise, the Semarang-Demak route is also in a functional condition, and the route along the south coast of Java is also well-traveled from Java to Pacitan, he added.
"We handed over to the police traffic corps regarding the traffic management on those roads," Hadimuljono disclosed.
Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, said there will be no restrictions on celebrating the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year.
It has been estimated that 44.4 million people will move during the Christmas and New Year holidays across Indonesia.
