Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Finance Ministry stated that onwards, the energy, food, and health sectors are the triad of elements for which development must be directed towards the value of sustainability.

"Energy, food, and health are very fundamental sectors for us to continue to work onwards," Deputy Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara made the remarks during the Indonesian Economic Outlook 2023 webinar here on Tuesday.

Energy must be available at affordable prices and from sources that are green, which means they do not pollute the environment.

Moreover, the food sector needs to be made sustainable through infrastructure development, meeting farmers' needs of land, and establishing markets for good food.

“The health sector is also very important. We have to balance demand and supply due to the needs of hospitals, human resources, networks, and services," he pointed out.

These three sectors can be developed, made to become sustainable, by utilizing domestic products, the measure of which will have multiple benefits on the national economy.

"We have to get a new source of Indonesia's economic growth from downstreaming natural resources. If there is an export ban, that is not the goal — the goal is downstreaming, so that our natural resources are processed domestically," he stated.

An environmentally friendly economy must also be adopted in a consistent manner, as a green economy will become a source of new economic growth for Indonesia in future.

"Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are also one way to produce a sustainable economy going onwards. MSMEs are also catalysts for local economic growth and are close to local products," he concluded.
