This deficit suggests that the state budget returns to healthy.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The state budget (APBN) has recorded a deficit of Rp237.7 trillion, equivalent to 1.22 percent of the national gross domestic product (GDP), as of December 14, 2022, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has informed.

The deficit is far smaller than the target of Rp840.2 trillion, or 4.5 percent of the GDP, for this year and the deficit of Rp817.4 trillion, or 3.4 percent of the GDP, recorded in the same period last year, she noted at an online press conference on APBN KITA (Our Budget) in Jakarta on Tuesday.

"This deficit suggests that the state budget returns to healthy," she said.

The deficit has run on the right track along with the state budget, which has grown significantly. State spending reached Rp2,717.6 trillion while state revenues stood at Rp2,579.9 trillion as of December 14, she added.

State spending rose 11.9 percent year-on-year compared to the same period last year when the figure was recorded at Rp2,429.4 trillion. The spending comprised the central government's spending of Rp1,957.9 trillion, up 16.2 percent year on year (yoy), and transfers to regions of Rp749.7 trillion, up 1.9 percent yoy.

The state spending comprised the spending of ministries/institutions of Rp954.4 trillion, which fell 6.7 percent (yoy), and the spending of non-ministerial institutions of Rp1,013.5 trillion, which rose 51 percent (yoy).

The surge in the spending of non-ministerial institutions was the result of rising subsidies and compensations for the public, which reached Rp206.9 trillion and Rp268.1 trillion, respectively, she said.

"This condition suggests that the state budget worked very hard to protect the public through the spending of ministries/institutions and non-ministerial institutions," she said.

Meanwhile, state revenues grew 36.9 percent (yoy) from Rp1,812 trillion during the same period last year. State revenues comprised Rp1,927.4 trillion from tax receipts, which grew 38.1 percent (yoy), and Rp551.1 trillion from non-tax state revenues, which increased 38.2 percent yoy.

The tax receipts comprised Rp1,634 trillion in taxes, which grew 41.9 percent (yoy), and Rp293.1 trillion in customs and excise duties, which rose 20 percent yoy,

With the low budget deficit, she said budget financing fell drastically by 28.5 percent to Rp469.8 trillion from Rp656.8 trillion.
