Jakarta (ANTARA) - Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Chief Moeldoko urged all parties to no longer polarize between the majority and the minority in national discourses and instead emphasize national unity.

"In the context of nationalism, we must no longer speak about majority and minority because this nation is united and built by all," Moeldoko noted, as per the statement received here, Wednesday.

At the national dialogue on "2024 Indonesia Geopolitical Vortex of Power and Strategies to Address it" in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Tuesday (December 20), the official said that abandoning the majority-minority dichotomy will promote national unity and new potentials for national development.

"For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we joined hands to recover together. If we continue working together, this nation will be strong," Moeldoko remarked.

He pointed out that through the 2020-2024 National Medium-term Development Plan (RPJMN), President Joko Widodo asserted his commitment to promoting religious moderation in Indonesia.

The KSP head said that religion could also provide solutions to global crises that cause difficulties for the global community.

Indonesia, under its G20 Presidency, had organized the Religion 20 Forum (R20) in which the attendees comprised 464 religious leaders from 32 countries, he noted.

Moeldoko said that the R20 Forum had agreed to at least three resolutions: religious leaders must reject identity politics, religious leaders must be dependable to guide the people to address crises, and religions must be the solution to achieve world peace.

"I hope we can involve ourselves to develop this country. Developing this country is not only the duty of the government, as all elements of society must also contribute to development," he stressed.

Residents must be mindful of the politicization of religious identities that could cause social conflicts, primarily in the context of the 2024 General Elections, the official underscored.

He noted that the KSP welcomes the public that is keen to discuss and deliver its aspirations on religious moderation issues with the agency.
