Secondly, conduct evaluation and monitoring of ministries, institutions, and regional governments to execute Law No. 25 of 2009 on Public ServiceJakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ombudsman highlighted several policy and management improvement suggestions to strengthen the public service system and prevent maladministration based on the 2022 public service compliance evaluation result.
Head of Ombudsman Mokhammad Najih urged the president, administrative and bureaucratic reform minister, as well as home affairs minister to encourage institutions to understand and implement public service standards.
This includes encouraging every ministry, institution, and regional government to implement complaint handling unit fulfillment in every public service institution, Najih said in a statement on Thursday.
"Secondly, conduct evaluation and monitoring of ministries, institutions, and regional governments to execute Law No. 25 of 2009 on Public Service," he noted.
The Ombudsman also suggested ministers, institution heads, governors, mayors, and district heads to commend leaders of service units that receive the green zone.
Green zone is the highest quality category, yellow zone is the moderate quality category, while red zone is the low quality category in terms of compliance with public service standards, he explained.
"There should also be a reprimand and consideration toward service standard components and complaint handling unit fulfillment to leaders of public service units that receive red and yellow zones," he noted.
The Ombudsman also encouraged institution leaders to monitor consistency in compliance improvement in fulfilling public service standards, Najih stated.
"Every unit should formulate, establish, and implement public service standards in accordance with Law No. 25 of 2009 on Public Service," he remarked.
Earlier, Najih had drawn attention to a significant improvement in terms of compliance with public service standards from several institutions that entered the green zone in 2022 as compared to the previous years.
This improvement is especially apparent at the district and city government as well as institutional levels, he added.
Some 272 institutions entered the green zone in 2022, or a 52.96-percent rise as compared to 2021 during which 179 institutions had entered the green zone, he elaborated. (INE)
