Controlling tuberculosis needs active participation from all parties, including the communityJakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture has invited the public to take an active part in controlling tuberculosis in the country.
"Controlling tuberculosis needs active participation from all parties, including the community," deputy for health quality improvement and demographic development coordination at the ministry Agus Suprapto said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The public can participate in controlling tuberculosis by reporting tuberculosis cases in their surrounding area, he added.
"The public can also participate in handling (tuberculosis) cases on a community basis and disseminate information on tuberculosis to other community members in their environs," he said.
They can also take part in controlling tuberculosis by supporting the tuberculosis screening program, he added.
"For example, if someone or his family member shows symptoms, he can play an active role by checking himself or taking his family member to a nearby health facility,” he said.
The public's involvement is key to identifying tuberculosis cases so that tuberculosis in the country can be eliminated soon, he said.
“There is a need for joint spirit and movement to collaborate in accelerating the elimination of tuberculosis. Let us find more tuberculosis cases and cure tuberculosis patients so that they will be healthy and productive," he added.
