We do not want to realize the first two aspects of success (implementation and sports achievement), while failing to be successful in the latter aspect (administrative matters)...
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali has outlined four parameters that all stakeholders will need to achieve when Indonesia hosts the FIFA U-20 World Cup from May 20 to June 11, 2023.

"From the beginning, we aim to have successful implementation (of the event), success in (bagging) achievement (in the Cup), success in (managing the) administrative matters, and success in (improving the people’s) economy (during the event)," he said on Tuesday.

He made the statement while chairing the first virtual cross-institutional and ministerial coordination meeting on the preparations for the tournament, according to a press release posted on the Youth and Sports Ministry’s website.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Law and Human Rights Ministry, Attorney General's Office, Development and Finance Comptroller (BPKP), police, as well as military.

The preparations for the World Cup will also be supported by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, State-Owned Enterprises Ministry, Home Affairs Ministry, as well as Communication and Information Ministry.

In addition, the Finance Ministry, Health Ministry, Trade Ministry, Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, Transportation Ministry, Cabinet Secretariat, and Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) will assist in the preparations.

“Later, I will also have a meeting with the governors, mayors, and district heads who become the local hosts (of the competition) to talk about everything (regarding the preparations),” the minister said.

It is hoped that the four aspects of success will be achieved smoothly without any problems, he added.

"We do not want to realize the first two aspects of success (implementation and sports achievement), while failing to be successful in the latter aspect (administrative matters) due to the problems faced by the committee, (such as) legal problems,” he emphasized.

He also stressed that the implementation of every event must emphasize the four parameters of success from the beginning.

Amali then asked each regional government to be ready for the implementation of the FIFA U-20 World Cup so that the competition can have a positive impact on the economy of their respective regions.

"Certainly, we are planning for the implementation (of the Cup) in the six host regions according to the directives from FIFA, thus there will be no mistake," he added.

There will be six main venues for the tournament: Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (Jakarta), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung district, West Java), Manahan Stadium (Solo city, Central Java), Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (Surabaya city, East Java), Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium (Palembang city, South Sumatra), and Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium (Gianyar district, Bali).
