Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police expressed readiness to monitor and ensure security during demonstration by workers giving threats of actions and calling for judicial review against Job Creation Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) issued by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Head of the Public Relations Division of the Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo said the National Police ensured that workers' aspirations could be channeled in a way that adhered to the mandate of Law Number 9 of 1998 on freedom of expression in public.

"Consistently oversee and secure in case someone is going to (exercise their right to) freedom of expression, in accordance with Law Number 9 of 1998 that every citizen must also obey," he emphasized.

However, Prasetyo reminded those looking to voice their aspirations to comply with the regulations, so that their aspirations could be received properly. They have to respect the rights of other citizens while conveying aspirations by not disrupting the traffic flow and not damaging public facilities.

"(This is) in order to always respect the rights of other citizens according to Law 9 of 1998," he affirmed.

On Friday, December 30, 2022, President Joko Widodo issued Perppu Number 2 of 2022 on Job Creation as a means to anticipate global conditions.

It was rejected by the workers, and it was met with strong responses in which the workers threatened to hold a major demonstration and call for judicial review.

On Sunday, January 1, Labor Party President Said Iqbal, in his written statement, stated that he rejected the Job Creation Perppu after studying, analyzing, and comparing it with Job Creation Law Number 13 of 2003.

He said his administration was ready to conduct a judicial review and take action. However, the time of the action and lawsuit were currently being discussed with other labor organizations.
