Jakarta (ANTARA) - Political party fractions of the House of Representatives (DPR) issued a joint statement reiterating support for an open-list proportional representation system in legislative elections mandated by the electoral law.

Parliamentary party fractions that participated in the joint statement are the Golkar Party, Gerindra Party, NasDem Party, National Awakening Party (PKB) , Democratic Party, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), National Mandate Party (PAN), and United Development Party (PPP).

Meanwhile, secretary of the United Development Party parliamentary fraction, Achmad Baidlowi, confirmed the joint statement has been signed by representatives of parliamentary party fractions.

However, Baidlowi said he would abide by any decision made by the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the judicial review that could change the currently-used open-list proportional system to the closed-list system.

"Whatever the MK decision later, we will follow," the fraction secretary affirmed.
