"Facilities for DRPPA are essential in the development of villages focused on achieving village-based SDGs," the ministry's Director General of Village Development, Sugito, stated at the launch of the technical guide for child-friendly cities at the village level, followed here Monday.
DRPPA will be a new hub for village development to realize advanced human resources in villages, he remarked while adding that all stakeholders must be more mindful of the younger generation.
"Children are the ones that decide the nation's future, (and to that end), villages are no exception, as they are the spearhead of development," he affirmed.
The director general cited Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data in 2021 that showed women and children constituted 65.2 percent of the Indonesian population, and 43 percent of them are living in villages.
Hence, policies, programs, and development plans to achieve SDGs must not neglect villages, he emphasized.
"I believe it will not be an exaggeration if we will focus more on villages because their huge numbers will be our capital to realize policies, programs, and development, including those to achieve Sustainable Development Goals in villages," Sugito emphasized.
He said that the ministry also lauded all parties involved in the drafting of a technical guide for child-friendly cities at the village level, as the public test showed a positive public response.
"The response is generally positive, and the guide, observing from our public test result, is highly applicable," the director general remarked.
