"Cooperation between Indonesia and Poland still has so much potential to be developed further. Especially since Poland is the biggest producer of electric batteries in Europe. This is a chance for us to collaborate," the minister said in a statement received here on Friday.
Minister Lahadalia commended the good relations between the two countries. He said that they could collaborate to better tap into the potential of their natural resources.
During the meeting, which took place in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday (January 19, 2023), the two ministers also talked about the improvement in bilateral cooperation between the countries, including in the financial sector.
Both agreed on pursuing collaboration in the financial sector, including allowing the Polish government to promote its commercial papers and bonds. They also discussed the global minimum tax treaty.
Minister Rzeczkowska responded positively to Indonesia's offer for cooperation, particularly the one pertaining to the development of the EV battery ecosystem.
The EV battery ecosystem in Poland is supported by a large company from Asia.
"We are grateful for the opportunity for cooperation with Indonesia. We expect that this collaboration can go accordingly in the long term. Regarding opportunity in collaboration for electric vehicle battery ecosystem development, Poland is ready to discuss further and explore cooperation opportunities with Indonesia," she said.
Currently, Poland is ranked 46th in terms of its investment in Indonesia, with its total investment reaching US$0.024 million.
The three Polish companies with the largest investment in Indonesia include Toyo Seal Indonesia, a manufacturing company; Xanadu Operations Indonesia, which is in the hospitality sector; and Family Members Group Indonesia, which conducts trade and reparations.
Indonesia is currently negotiating the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (EU-CEPA) with the European Union, which includes Poland. The agreement also covers investment.
