Jakarta (ANTARA) - Dutch football player Shayne Pattynama officially acquired Indonesian citizenship (WNI) after taking the oath of loyalty at the Law and Human Rights Ministry's regional office here on Tuesday.

“For the sake of Gold Almighty, I declare and solemnly promise to renounce all of my allegiance to foreign power, acknowledge submission and loyalty to the state, the unity of the Republic of Indonesia, Pancasila, and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia,” he stated.

“And will carry out the obligations imposed by the state on me as an Indonesian citizen sincerely,” Pattynama declared while taking the oath of loyalty.

He admitted to feeling proud to be an Indonesian citizen and looking forward to playing with the national team.

“I am very pleased and proud to be an Indonesian citizen. I am eager to play with the national team right away and meet my team mates. I am looking forward to it,” he told reporters.

The player, who is also of Indonesian descent, is expected to play with the national team in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup that will take place in Qatar.

Pattynama was born in Lelystad, the Netherlands, on August 11, 1998. The left-back player currently plays for Eliteserien Viking FK in the Norwegian Premier League.

Pattynama is the third player to have been naturalized on the request of the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong.
