"All stakeholders please optimize the convergence of specific and sensitive interventions for stunting," the ministry's expert staff for sustainable development, Agus Suprapto, said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Specific and sensitive interventions must be carried out in a convergent, integrative, and quality manner through the cooperation of all relevant elements, Suprapto, who once served as deputy for coordinating health quality improvement and population development at the ministry, stressed.
Specific interventions involve activities carried out to address the direct causes of stunting. Meanwhile, sensitive interventions address the indirect causes of stunting.
"This is in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 concerning accelerating the reduction of stunting in order to create a quality generation who will continue the nation's development program in a sustainable manner," he remarked.
He said that the ministry will continue to conduct outreach and education regarding the importance of optimizing specific and sensitive interventions as one of the five main pillars of the national strategy for accelerating stunting reduction.
"There are five pillars in the national strategy to accelerate stunting reduction, which needs to be a shared priority," he informed.
The first pillar is increasing the commitment and vision of the leadership in ministries/agencies, regional governments, and village governments.
Second, increasing communication regarding behavior change and community empowerment. Third, optimizing specific and sensitive interventions.
Fourth, increasing food and nutrition security, both for individuals, families, and communities, and fifth, strengthening and developing systems, data, information, research, and innovation related to stunting reduction.
"Through the active role of all stakeholders, the implementation of the five pillars and our efforts to develop future human resources will run optimally," he disclosed.
