The South Jakarta District Court, on Wednesday (February 15), sentenced Eliezer to one year and six months' imprisonment in the case of the premeditated murder of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat (Brigadier J).
"The sentence (handed to Eliezer) showed that the judges understood the roles and contributions played by a justice collaborator," LPSK Chairperson Hasto Atmojo Suroyo stated here Friday.
Suroyo said that the decision of the judiciary panel, presided over by Chief Judge Wahyu Iman Santoso, is consistent with the Law on Witness and Victim Protection that mandates sentence leniency for a justice collaborator.
Meanwhile, the LPSK head stated that a justice collaborator would receive at least three facilities as gratitude for his or her courageous decision.
The first facility is protection from the LPSK, as shown by the agency's constant protection to Eliezer since his plead to be a justice collaborator was approved to uncover the truth behind Hutabarat's murder, he explained.
He stated that the LPSK would continue to provide protection until Eliezer, as a justice collaborator, decided that such protection was no longer necessary.
The second facility is special treatment from law enforcers through the separation of the justice collaborator's case file and places of detention from other defendants, Suroyo noted.
"The third is appreciation (from relevant parties). It is the (justice collaborator's) rights and obligation of judges to appreciate a justice collaborator," the LPSK head stressed.
Suroyo said that the LPSK expressed its utmost appreciation to the judges for having presented a progressive verdict for a justice collaborator under the agency's protection.
