"This is where the ministers will live. There will be 36 buildings here, which we hope will be completed in June 2024," Jokowi told the Presidential Palace journalists invited from Jakarta to visit the area.
He noted that the completion target was in accordance with the one to mark the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence at IKN Nusantara in 2024.
"We have a target that on August 17, 2024, we will conduct a flag ceremony in IKN Nusantara," he affirmed.
The president acknowledged that currently, the work to construct the ministers' housing was only 14-percent complete.
"It is only 14-percent (complete), but it has been started," he said.
Jokowi also clarified that no problems were encountered in terms of the budget for construction of the ministers' housing area.
Meanwhile, housing for the heads of other state agencies will also be built in the form of apartments for which work is planned to be started in June 2023, he stated.
After the construction process is complete, the ministries will gradually relocate to IKN Nusantara, he said.
"Yes, after it is completed, we will move the ministerial staff and employees gradually. The minister of public works and public housing (PUPR) said to me that his ministry will go first," he said while humorously referring to PUPR Minister, Basuki Hadimuljono, who assisted his visit.
As quoted from the official website of the PUPR Ministry, construction of the ministers' housing had commenced on December 7, 2022.
The PUPR Ministry appointed state-owned construction company PT Adhi Karya as contractor of the residential project under a joint operation (KSO) scheme with PT Ciriajasa Engineering Consultant.
The PUPR Ministry has prepared two types of house designs for ministers -- the downslope type and the upslope type -- with a building area of 580 square meters and a land area of one thousand square meters.
