This activity is not teaching people how to create a software or application but is rather making people accustomed to digitalization, Head of Human Resources Research and Development at the Ministry Hary Budiarto noted.
Having a outlook that can adapt to digitalization will produce leaders with an intelligent, quick, and data-based mindset, he explained through a statement on Friday.
DLA is a training program to hone the digital capacity of Indonesian leaders. Through the program, participants are expected to become leaders with international insights on digital technology.
The ministry collaborates with the University of Cambridge's Moller Institute to hold the program in North Sumatra.
In 2030, the DLA program provides quota for 500 people, while the program in North Sumatra targets 30 leaders in the public sector.
North Sumatra's Regional Secretary Arief S. Trinugroho lauded the implementation of training for public sector leaders.
He deemed that in the digital era, a leader must be able to initiate and encourage changes toward digital transformation.
"We need to leave behind old patterns and be able to transform in implementing technology and information-based strategic programs," Trinugroho stated.
He expects that the training will produce an action plan formulated by participants and be implemented to handle problems in North Sumatra.
"North Sumatra, with the fourth-biggest population in Indonesia, certainly has a very large potential in digital technology utilization," he affirmed.
"Thus, the key for success in supporting every transformation is the existence of leadership because there cannot be changes without leadership," he emphasized.
DLA, part of the Digital Talent Scholarship, is one of the ministry's programs to meet the demand for national digital talents.
