Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has prepared data on potential beneficiaries of food social assistance to be distributed by the government ahead of Ramadan.

"As the authority to use the budget is held by the (Ministry of) Finance, I am only handing over the data," Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini stated here on Monday.

The government plans to distribute food aid for three months starting before Ramadan to residents in need.

Currently, the government is still in the process of preparing regulations regarding the distribution of food social assistance, specifically for villagers, who are the target of the Family Hope Program (PKH) and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT).

The government plans to distribute food social assistance in March, April, and May 2023.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the distribution of food assistance was aimed at reducing the impact of rising food prices ahead of religious holidays.

Minister Rismaharini affirmed that during the January-March 2023 period, the government had also distributed social assistance PKH and BPNT or Basic Food Cards.
