It will be allocated for the supporting electric infrastructure of e-Bus Rapid Transit (eBRT) whose construction process has begun.
Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - The West Java provincial government has received a grant of US$10 million (around Rp150 billion) from South Korea for green public transportation development.

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), this time the grant came from the South Korean government for green public transportation. It will be allocated for the supporting electric infrastructure of e-Bus Rapid Transit (eBRT) whose construction process has begun," West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil informed here on Thursday.

During his working visit to South Korea, Kamil met with the Governor of South Chungcheong (Chungnam) province, which is a sister province of West Java.

The meeting was attended by the director of Chungnam Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (CCEI), several South Korean officials, and representatives of Indonesia's Ministry of Home Affairs.

CCEI is in the process of installing eBRT charging stations at three planned locations in West Java through the Ministry of Transportation.

The electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in West Java, which will use solar energy as a renewable energy source, will be supported by an energy storage system (ESS) that uses recycled batteries.

The development package will also include technical management building and maintenance personnel.

The project for procuring eco-friendly electric buses and their charging stations will extend from 2022 to 2025. If the grant is approved by the South Korean government, the proposed project can be implemented promptly.

In an effort to reduce fossil fuel subsidies and carbon dioxide gas emissions, the Indonesian government has issued a regulation that encourages the adoption of EVs as the main transportation mode.

President Joko Widodo emphasized that environment-friendly smart city development must be supported by the latest technology so that the city can be a home for innovation and creativity.

West Java has supported the eco-development push by issuing several regulations such as provincial regulation No. 2 of 2019 concerning the West Java Energy General Plan for 2018–2050.
