"The schemes and simulations can support Indonesia's ambition of becoming the world's food barn," he said while accompanying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to Lajer Village here on Thursday.
The President, and the governor, along with Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, and officials from the National Food Agency (NFA), participated in a rice harvesting activity there.
During the visit, the officials discussed a proposal for a pricing scheme for rice and dried harvested rice (GKP), which is expected to benefit farmers, Pranowo said.
"Earlier, we talked about what is the most profitable scheme that can benefit farmers," he added.
In addition to the pricing scheme, he voiced support for simulation programs to determine the prices of rice plants and rice.
The pricing scheme was recommended by the NFA to prevent the prices of essential commodities, especially rice, from soaring in the market.
"The NFA also said that a simulation needs to be made. This will be used to determine how much is a feasible farmers' price so that people are not hesitant to buy their rice," he explained.
His support for Indonesia's efforts to become a national food granary was shown in a photo uploaded on social media. The photo showed the group's harvesting activities in Kebumen, with Pranowo captioning it, “Indonesia as the world's food granary. Let's do it.”
While accompanying President Widodo, he also interacted with farmers. Meanwhile, the President asked for a fair price of rice at the farmer, trader, and community levels.
"Farmers said that dried harvested rice (GKP) falls at a price of Rp4,200 per kg. It is too low, so the government is calculating the (reasonable) price for GKP, and it will be announced by the National Food Agency," he informed.
