PLN supports programs to reach net-zero emissions in 2060 where all cities are required to do the same thingBogor, West Java (ANTARA) - The Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java has provided a public electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU) for government operational vehicles in the palace.
Inauguration of the SPKLU was attended by Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono and President Director of state-owned electricity company (PLN) Darmawan Prasodjo at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Friday.
"PLN supports programs to reach net-zero emissions in 2060 where all cities are required to do the same thing. Today, we inaugurate the SPKLU at the Bogor Palace," Hartono remarked.
He noted that the presence of SPKLU at the Bogor Presidential Palace was a form of motivation for PLN to provide the same facility at other Presidential Palaces: the State Palace, Merdeka Palace, Cipanas Palace, Tampaksiring Palace, and Gedung Agung Palace.
He also lauded the construction of the SPKLU facility to support Indonesia's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.
Meanwhile, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo lauded the palace's efforts for having started to use renewable energy four years back.
"Four years ago, the Bogor Presidential Palace was already using clean energy, including electric motorbikes, when PLN had not yet used it at that time," Prasodjo remarked.
He noted that the use of electric vehicles was proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 50 percent.
So far, PLN has built over 600 SPKLUs in Indonesia, including in government offices, restaurants, and coffee shops, he remarked.
Earlier, PLN had provided an SPKLU at the Bogor City Hall that had been used by the public since November 2022.
He remarked that massive SPKLU development was supported by the issuance of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 7 of 2022 on the Use of Battery Electric Vehicles as Operational Service Vehicles and/or Individual Service Vehicles for Central Government Agencies and Regional Governments.
The use of battery-based electric motorized vehicles, as operational service vehicles and/or individual service vehicles for central government and regional government agencies, can be carried out through the purchase, lease, and/or conversion of fuel-motorized vehicles into battery-based electric vehicles in accordance with statutory provisions.
