Pekanbaru, Riau (ANTARA) - Riau Governor Syamsuar has lauded the designation of Kampar district as the host of the commemoration event of National Information Openness Day (HKIN), which falls on May 4, 2023.

"Therefore, we held a meeting today to prepare Kampar, Riau, as the HKIN host," he told the press while receiving a visit from Central Information Commission (KIP) chairperson Donny Yoesgiantoro and other KIP officials here on Saturday.

The governor discussed several preparations ahead of HKIN commemoration with the Kampar district government and the Kampar District Information Commission (KI).

During the meeting, it was decided that KIP will invite President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the HKIN Summit in Kampar, he said.

"If we invite President Jokowi, we have to prepare other events, in addition to the events that have been set by KIP," he added.

Meanwhile, Yoesgiantoro expressed his gratitude to the governor for providing his support for HKIN implementation in Kampar.

"There need to be preparations, so it can be held properly. For that, we would like to thank the Governor of Riau for his support," he said.

As part of the National Information Openness Day commemoration this year, he said, his party held a fit-and-proper test for the Tinarbuka Award in Banten on March 27.

The assessment for monitoring public information openness was based on Law No. 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Openness.

"The assessment team tested election organizers, heads of offices, directors of provincial apparatus work units, district heads, and mayors," he said.

The Tinarbuka Award will be held during the HKIN commemoration summit in Kampar on May 4.

He informed that his side has sent a letter to President Widodo and the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security to invite the President to the awards event.

"We have coordinated with the Ministry of State Secretariat to ask for President Joko Widodo's willingness to attend the Tinarbuka Award," Yoesgiantoro said.
