Jakarta (ANTARA) - Eid al-Fitr is a day of victory that can promote anti-corruption behavior, news department head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Ali Fikri said in a statement issued on Saturday.

This is because Eid al-Fitr is celebrated after a month of fasting, which is filled with spiritual value and includes the strengthening of an honest attitude and behavior.

"We interpret Eid al-Fitr as a day of victory after a full month of fasting. Fasting is an activity filled with spiritual value, including as an act to hone honest attitude and behavior," he said.

He explained that the honing of honest behavior that is encouraged throughout Ramadan is a foundation for human behavior. Fasting Muslims are not only trained to be honest with others, but also with themselves and Allah.

Because of this, the end of Ramadan, celebrated through Eid al-Fitr, can produce various positive behaviors, including anti-corruption behavior, he said.

"Honesty is the foundation of a person's behavior. If a person has an honest characteristic, it will produce modesty, humility, and other good behaviors, including anti-corruption," Fikri added.

The journey toward Eid al-Fitr is not just a process to climb the peak of spirituality. The lessons learned throughout Ramadhan can prevent behaviors and actions that ruin piety, he said.

Because of this, he urged Indonesians to maintain the value of compassion that they have practiced.

"In this day of victory, let us maintain the values of compassion that we have carved throughout the previous month," he said.

"With this, we will not only climb the peak of spirituality, but also prevent ourselves from committing actions and behaviors that ruin our piety, such as corruption," he said.
