"Those who will return to Jakarta's direction, please prevent various diseases with good preparation and enough rest," head of the surveillance and immunization section of the office Ngabila Salama said here on Tuesday.
The return trip involves a fairly long journey, thus people must pay more attention to their bodies, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic, she added.
Before embarking on a long trip, exodus travelers must get enough rest by getting seven to eight hours of sleep, which could help prevent physical or mental stress, she said.
It is advisable for Eid travelers to consume a balanced diet by carrying sufficient and nutritious foods, such as bread, milk, or vitamins.
Apart from that, people, especially those with comorbidities, must also prepare and regularly consume their medication.
"Then, please maintain good immunity by implementing a healthy lifestyle," the official said.
She further asked parents to pay attention to the health of children during the journey by ensuring they wear masks, which can provide protection against virus transmission.
People must comply with the mask mandate, especially when meeting sick people and using public transportation, she stressed.
In addition, she asked Jakarta residents who are feeling unwell to take COVID-19 tests at community health centers (puskesmas) in Jakarta to check their health status.
She asked those who are experiencing symptoms, such as cough, cold, sore throat, fever, and red eyes, not to delay testing to prevent COVID-19 transmission. The tests are being provided for free at puskesmas for those who have symptoms or are close contacts of COVID-19 patients.
"Please remember that we are still facing the COVID-19 pandemic," Salama added.
