Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) has sanctioned a personnel for harassing a resident by kicking her motorbike, causing it to nearly fall, in an incident that went viral on social media.

The personnel, identified by the initials ANG and holding the rank of first private, is posted with Air Defence Detachment 471 of the TNI-AU's Quick Reaction Forces Command (Kopasgat).

"According to TNI-AU leadership instruction, we have followed up on the incident by conveying our apology directly to the victim. The personnel involved has also been sanctioned by his superior," head of the TNI-AU Information Center, Air Commodore Indan Gilang Buldansyah, said, according to a written statement issued here on Tuesday.

The detachment commander, Lieutenant Colonel Bagus Ajar Pamungkas, met with the victim, Sri Dewi Kemuning, 21, at her home in Bekasi, West Java, to personally express an apology, he added.

"As the commander of First Private ANG, I express my utmost apology for the mistake of my personnel. I hope this incident will give a lesson for him," Pamungkas told the victim's father during the meeting.

Pamungkas then instructed ANG to apologize to Kemuning, her father, and her family. Kemuning accepted the personnel's apology.

ANG was found harassing Kemuning by kicking the motorbike she drove after abruptly stopping in the middle of the road, causing her to nearly fall, in Jatiwarna, Bekasi, Monday (April 24, 2023). At the time of the incident, Kemuning had a child passenger behind her.

A video of the incident, recorded by the passenger of a car behind them, quickly went viral on social media.

The information center head also asked residents not to hesitate to report any violation or disgraceful action committed by Air Force personnel.

"You can report (any violation) to the nearest TNI-AU unit," he said.
