Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo directly reviewed and sought details about the people's aspirations regarding their experience during the 2023 Eid al-Fitr homecoming on Tuesday.

He met several travelers at the Rest Area KM 42 of the Cikampek Toll Road, and greeted and inquired about services and regulations regarding the return flow.

From the conversation, a traveler from Kuningan, West Java, said he had no complaints regarding the implementation of the 2023 Eid return flow.

Moreover, another traveler from Surabaya claimed to have had a better homecoming experience this year than before.

The general urged his staff to remain alert to secure the return flow of the 2023 Eid homecoming.

All police officers on duty must be alert, both on toll roads and arterial roads, to provide the best service for the community during the Eid homecoming return flow, he emphasized.

"I instruct our officers on duty regarding the shift in the prediction of the peak of the return flow. The return flow will continue until Sunday. I ask them to be ready on both toll and arterial roads to serve all travelers," he noted in a statement on Wednesday.

Prabowo remarked that initial predictions indicated that 203 thousand vehicles per day would be passing during the peak of the return flow.

To this end, several strategies have been prepared, starting from giving toll discounts to traffic engineering to reduce congestion, he said.

He noted that the government had also announced to avoid the peak of the return flow by providing an opportunity for civil servants and employees of the National Police, and the Defense Forces to apply for additional leave.

"The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, has also informed that the gathering activities after Eid at offices will be shifted to next week from this week," he revealed.

Regarding these matters, he remarked that based on the results of observation, the peak of the return flow would not take place on Wednesday.

Moreover, there was a 13-percent decrease in the number of vehicles from the initial forecast, he said.

"If the number of vehicles could reduce by 13 percent by the end of the day, then the regulation was able to lower the peak of vehicle movement on Wednesday," he added.
