Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy has assured that the second wave of reverse Eid al-Fitr flow, which has been predicted from April 30 to May 1, 2023, will proceed smoothly.

"Various policies and schemes have been prepared to welcome travelers arriving (from their hometowns) during the second return wave," he said, according to a statement issued here on Saturday.

The minister further said that to ensure the smooth management of the reverse flow, he had visited Cikampek toll road to inspect its readiness for catering to the predicted surge in travelers.

"So far, the preparedness to cater to the reverse flow at Cikampek toll road has been at utmost optimum," he noted.

Meanwhile, observations made since D+2 of Eid al-Fitr showed that the reverse flow from the Trans-Java toll road towards the Greater Jakarta region through Cikampek toll road was relatively stable.

The report also showed that vehicles moving to the Greater Jakarta area during the Eid reverse flow days were evenly distributed, with a daily average of 100 thousand, the minister said.

"According to the Police's Traffic Corps and (toll road operator) Jasa Marga data, the highest volume of vehicle movement to Greater Jakarta occurred on D+2 of Eid al-Fitr, or April 25, with 159,585 vehicles," Effendy informed.

He highlighted the effective strategies used for managing traffic, including toll fare discounts, one-way traffic, and contra-flow arrangement, which helped ensure smooth reverse Eid flow.

"Praise be to God, through various policies that we have conceived, we have seen a sloping curve in the Eid reverse flow, which means that the vehicle volume is evenly distributed on all days," he stated.

Effendy also asked travelers to continue to adhere to the health protocols to prevent COVID-19 and get enough rest before traveling to ensure good physical condition.
