"We predict that the number of passengers will be around 170 thousand, both who arrive and depart through Soetta Airport, on April 30," Soetta Airport's senior manager of branch communication and legal, Holik Muwardi, said here on Saturday.
The service optimization at the airport covers the Integrated Service Post at Terminal 1B, the 24-hour operation of the airport, security services provided by 1,500 personnel, and the deployment of additional personnel comprising outsourced workers, the Indonesian Military (TNI), and the National Police (Polri).
The Integrated Service Post at Soetta Airport was activated on April 12, that is, 10 days before Eid al-Fitr--which fell on April 22--and will remain open until May 3.
At the post, travelers can obtain data on the number of passengers and planes, among others, during the Eid period.
For handling the peak of the Eid exodus return travel, additional flights may be operated if airlines feel the need for them, he informed.
He further noted that 71 additional flights have been operated from Soetta Airport. They were proposed by airlines, that had sought to add more than 200 flights.
"For extra flights, they will depend on the airlines," he added.
Muwardi explained that there are 32 airlines that are operating domestic and international flights from Soetta Airport’s Terminal 1 to Terminal 3.
For this year's Eid al-Fitr, the government has projected that the number of exodus travelers will reach 123 million, based on a survey of potential people's movement during the Eid period.
The figure reflects an increase compared to the number of exodus travelers in 2022, which stood at 85 million.
