Dian Patria, the Head of KPK's Corruption Eradication Task Force Region V in Jayapura, disclosed on Sunday that the task force had discovered data from the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), which recorded 1,422 units of four- and two-wheeled vehicles.
"We estimate that there are 200 more vehicles that are still in the possession of pensioners and other officials from government agencies. Hence, KPK is still waiting for the valid data from BPKAD and the Provincial Inspectorate to determine the exact figure," he said.
According to Patria, the data were requested from active heads of offices, retired officials, and former special staff of the governor.
"On Saturday, May 13, we recovered 11 vehicles belonging to the provincial government," he noted.
He provided further details, stating that the units consist of six vehicles from the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), two from the Transportation Office, one from the Public Order Security Agency (Satpol PP), and two from the One-door Integrated Service Agency (BPTSP).
"The vehicles were used by former senior officials and retired officials who were required to return them," he said.
Therefore, the KPK has urged the provincial government to refuse to process documents for mutation or retirement for civil servants who do not possess an asset-free statement letter from BPKAD, he added.
Danny Korwa, a special supporting inspector from the Inspectorate of Papua Province, expressed his appreciation to the KPK for its efforts in helping the provincial government manage its assets.
