After the coordination meeting here Monday, Presidential Staff Chief Moeldoko stated that the team for accelerating the formation of the Domestic Workers Protection Law had already completed the discussion on the PPRT Bill's DIM.
"We already conducted the Domestic Workers Protection Law acceleration coordination meeting as the final meeting before being submitted to the DPR within one (or) two days," he remarked.
The DPR will discuss the PPRT Bill's DIM in a legislative court, he stated.
Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah explained that the government had also taken in account the inputs from the National Commission on Violence against Women (Komnas Perempuan) and National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) during the PPRT Bill's DIM discussion.
The government also took into account the inputs from Domestic Workers National Advocacy Network (Jala PRT) and workers' unions.
The government discussed 365 items of the PPRT Bill's DIM, which was an increase from 238.
This figure increased after the government conducted coordination between ministries and institutions and sought inputs from stakeholders, Fauziyah explained.
In general, after aspirations were taken into account, all stakeholders support the PPRT Law to be immediately discussed and ratified, she affirmed.
President Joko Widodo had encouraged to expedite the ratification of the PPRT Bill to become a law.
To speed up this process, he ordered the law and human rights minister and manpower minister to immediately coordinate and consult with DPR and all stakeholders, he stated on February 18, 2023.
